Who we are

FundMed is strategically located at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre and has a team specialized in the administration of research projects in the area of human health, selective processes and scientific events. We have sectors that provide legal services, hiring human resources for projects, holding scientific and cultural events, conducting selective processes, purchasing and importing inputs to projects, financial management of resources and accounting of projects. Our focus is to ensure maximum efficiency and the best results for our supported institutions.

During our history we have already managed more than 1,200 research projects, 600 scientific events, assisting more than 250 researchers in this journey. Our work gives researchers and event coordinators a greater focus on the scientific part.

Governance

FundMed is a private, non-profit institution established in 1991 by professors affiliated with the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA). Its main statutory objectives are to support, promote, and develop projects in education, research, outreach, and institutional, scientific, and technological development, along with fostering and promoting innovation in the healthcare sector.

Meet the Board and the Team

Our Story

In 1991, with the emergence of the first research groups in Brazil, the Fundação Médica do Rio Grande do Sul was created with the purpose of providing support for public and private studies and operational base for the extension projects of the Faculdade de Medicina da UFRGS (UFRGS Medical School) carried out in the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre. In 1994 the Foundations of Support were regulated, based on Federal Law 8,958 and validated by Decree 7,423 of 2014, facilitating the work with the Federal Institutions of Higher Education and Scientific and Technological Institutions, in addition to strengthening the professionalization and structuring of the segment. In the year 2016 FundMed participated actively in the movement of the New Legal Framework of Science and Technology, collaborating for a broader scenario in the country’s research area.

These actions enabled the FundMed to act with agility in the processing of administrative processes, always maintaining the legal responsibility and transparency required.
